Invisible.
Hotels and inns have been a central part of travel for centuries. Places where the paths of different people cross, and which can be both a stopover and the destination of a journey. While guests spend restful days here, much happens unnoticed in the background: diligent hands ensure a relaxing stay. They tidy up, prepare, and are always there wherever they're needed. Through this editorial and the accompanying one-pager, this work aims to give the invisible work within the hotel industry the appreciation it deserves.
[about]
At the heart of the project are the images. They are no shots which could appear in a hotel magazine — quite the opposite: they show the work itself. Where it's needed and where it's done.
The images form a deliberate contrast to the otherwise elegant layout. Generous white space, short, inspiring texts, and concise keywords create an airy atmosphere that invites reflection.
[about]
The second major stylistic device is the keywords. They describe the tasks of hotel staff, yet they sound like professions in their own right. At first glance, you might stumble over these newly coined terms — but at second glance, they offer a whole new way of seeing the images.
