Ruanda

Country of New Beginnings

When people think of Rwanda, they probably think first of the country‘s dark past. Civil war and genocide devastated the nation at the end of the last century. Yet since then, much has happened and grown anew.

With our project, we want to break down clichés and make clear: this small country in Central Africa has far more to offer than just its history. Therefore we developed a website and a poster. Alongside a main page that provides insight into history and culture, three subpages offer in-depth information on the topics of nature, society, and economy.

Custom-made diagrams, charts, and icons visualize the information clearly and in a cohesive visual style.

[about]

Not only through the text, but also — and perhaps especially — through the hand-drawn illustrations and the generous use of negative space, a distinctive atmosphere emerges, conveying to the reader the impression of a world without peace. Silent. Cold. Lonely.

[about]

A consistent grid formed the basis for icons, boxes, and shapes – creating a distinctive, angular visual language. Our own typeface, also developed within this grid, completes the system.
